Description

Myo Plus Qualification Training

Individuals who have been affected by an amputation or a congenital malformation can still imagine closing their hand or rotating it outwards. This activates the remaining muscles in the residual limb. However, the corresponding organ that would carry out the hand movement is missing. Myo Plus prosthesis control measures the incoming signals and derives movement patterns from them that are characteristic for individual hand movements. A certain prosthetic hand grip can be assigned to each learned pattern. The control system therefore learns from the user for the first time. The Myo Plus Qualification training helps practitioners to understand the Myo Plus pattern recognition system and successfully identify potential candidates.

Learning Objectives:

After successfully completing this training, participants will understand:

  • the features, characteristics, and functions of the Myo Plus pattern recognition system for trans-radial amputee fittings
  • indications and contraindications for the use of Myo Plus
  • how to evaluate a potential candidate for use of the system, and train them to operate it with the Bebionic hand or other Ottobock MyoBock terminal devices
  • how to access and use the mobile apps for both iOS and Android devices to train, make adjustments and operate the system
  • how to evaluate or conduct a trial using the Myo Plus Cuff, and how to create a functional trial prosthesis or finished prosthesis using the system components
